Delight at first sight. In spring, columnar ‘Golden Sentinel’ becomes a shimmering pillar of snow-white flowers and dark-green foliage. Flower display is the prelude to clusters of large, juicy, golden-yellow fruit that ripen around mid-September—making for four months of blooms and luscious fruits. Sweet, firm and delicious, ‘Golden Sentinel’ apples make for fine fresh eating, for cider or applesauce, or starring in cakes, pies and muffins. Vertical, narrow trees, loaded with fruit, are perfect for patio containers or smaller gardens. Naturally dwarf trees, growing to only 8–12 when mature, often yield fruit the year after planting. Partner with a companion apple tree, such as another columnar variety, for cross-pollination and more robust fruiting. Good disease resistance.
