Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just received shipment The plants arrived well packed in splendid condition. They were so large, full and healthy. Some even had buds on them. Can’t wait to plant. Bought 6 plants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this lilac I received the relatively tiny (but with a strong healthy root mass) plant in early spring of 2016 and decided to wait long enough before I write a review. The plant arrived in time and in a perfect package, with very healthy top growth of about 7”. The only thought that crossed my mind was, how long before I get to see the fregrant flowers (but I knew patients is the magic word for perennials). Planted by the patio (yes I dream of sitting by the plant sipping tea and taking in the soothing fragrance on quite evenings in the future) per instruction and for first few weeks tended closely. Initially the visible growth was very slow but I knew the plant was working on establishing its root system. by mid June I could see some new growth and by beginning of August I could see the cluster of flower buds forming on tiny delicate looking branches. So to my amazement the plant managed to produce fall blooms on barely a foot long branches that season itself. Flowers were sparse but pleasantly fragrant. Come winter, I did not provide any winter protection to the plant as it has natural protection on the north east in form of the house. as soon as soil temperatures started to rise below freezing in spring I could see new growth from base of the plant. The plant came back with vigor and grew to be about 4’ tall before winter freeze this season. Flowered on regular schedule as other lilacs, in spring; rested (and focused on growing branches) and started blooming again in August which continued till the November frost invoked dormancy. Needless to say I’m super satisfied with the plant and can tell from experience that come spring it will grow stronger and fuller. So if you love lilac fragrance and want to enjoy a compact easy care plant with super long blooming season, you won’t be disappointed with this plant. Highly recommend. Including a picture that I took in early November.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice plants..... Received two plants in April and planted as directed - full sun, ground with good drainage. In about 4 months the small sprigs - maybe 5 inches above ground at planting - are now over 2 feet tall with over a dozen individual branches on each plant. No blossoms at this early stage (the only reason for a 4 and not 5 star ratting) but I am looking forward to spring 2018! 5 stars will be rated when I see and smell some fragrant blossoms. 8^)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So disappointing I bought this lilac and was hoping for it to perhaps double in size by the end of the summer. Unfortunately after following all instructions it died within a month. I was also disappointed with the way it arrived. It was jammed in the box with the 3 ferns that I bought. They all looked awful when they arrived but I managed to nurse the ostrich ferns back to life but I couldn't save the lilac. I have received plants from other companies and their packing is much better and the plants arrived looking healthy. Probably won't buy from Burpee again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy, "Happy" Lilacs! I planted the Lilacs at the beginning of the season, and they're growing up slowly, but multiplying they're deep, dark green leaves at a good clip! I'm very happy with these young, healthy Lilac plants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must like the spot planted I got three last year. Planted each one in a different location around the patio. The one that did the best is the one in full sun in a large planter. It is now two feet around (I've been pruning all of them to get them to fill in and keep a nice shape) and it is about to have many multiple blooms. That one is just beautiful. The next best is about a foot round and is in partial sun by house foundation no blooms on this one. The third is only about six inches around and is in full sun in an open garden. No blooms on that one either. I am going to replant the puny one into a planter on the southern side of the house and see if it likes it. I cant wait for the blooms to open. In all fairness to the others the one in the planter gets the most fussed over (water, fed more, pruned more, etc) because its right in the middle of the patio. Conclusion, this plant likes attention and is fussy about location. I think it will be worth it. I would buy more if I had correct spots to put them. I will give it another star if when those blooms open it smells as nice as I'm hoping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to plant I purchased three of these plants two years ago and two of them are still going strong. The third one made it through the first Colorado winter but did not survive a couple of late frosts. I agree with the other reviewers that the plants are small and will take some time to get larger. But both are blooming this year. And for me, the advantage to a small plant was digging holes in the clay soil to plant them in the first place. Larger plants are nearly impossible for me to plant on my own without borrowed muscle.
