Sautéed Chinese Cabbage

Keep it simple with garlicky-good stir-fried bok choy or Chinese cabbage. (Browse Burpee’s selection of Asian greens here.)

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 shallots, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small knob ginger, peeled and diced
  • 2 medium heads of Chinese cabbage or bok choy
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Water, as needed

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced shallots, chopped garlic, and diced ginger. Cook for 8-10 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  2. In a large skillet, shallots,  garlic, and ginger in olive oil. Sauté for 8-10 minutes or until fragrant and slightly softened.
  3. Chop the Chinese cabbage or bok choy and rinse well. Separate the white parts from the leafy greens. 
  4. Add the white parts of the bok choy and a few teaspoons of water to the skillet. Sauté over medium-high heat for 5 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Add the leafy green parts and oyster sauce. Continue to sauté until greens are wilted and heated through.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve!
