
This easy, cheesy baked delight features an early spring treasure: the turnip. Standing sliced root vegetables in layers gives the dish a special occasion twist.
Ingredients
- 2 bunches of turnips, thinly sliced
- 1 large sweet potato, thinly sliced
- Olive oil
- Salt
- 1 cup shredded Fontina cheese
- Black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Thinly slice the turnips and sweet potato, then toss with olive oil, salt, and shredded Fontina cheese.
- Arrange the slices upright in a concentric circle in a baking dish. Drizzle with a bit more olive oil and a sprinkle of black pepper.
- Cover and bake at 425°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes, uncovering after 30 minutes to allow the top to brown.
