Baked Apples

Baked apple halves topped with oat crumble and served with scoops of vanilla ice cream in a cast iron skillet.

Eat your apples for dessert! Sweeten your harvest with a simple cinnamon-spiced oat crumble.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats or granola
  • 3 Tbs brown sugar
  • 4 Tbs unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 5-6 small to medium apples
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, work together oats or granola, brown sugar, unsalted butter pieces and ground cinnamon between your fingers until combined and butter is crumbly.
  2. Cut apples in half, then use a melon baller to scoop out the core plus a little extra. Divide butter oat mixture between apples to fill.
  3. Place apples in a skillet or baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-45 minutes or until bubbly and apples are tender. Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.
