South African native lily adds exotic tropical beauty to the garden, even in zone 6. Stems on lily’s fleshy burgundy and green strap-shaped leaves produce flower spikes resembling miniature pineapples. Then it’s time for hundreds of waxy, star-shaped ivory 1" flowers to burst into bloom, eventually transitioning into rich hues of rose and purple. Wow! Great cut flowers.
