Short Description

Dwarf, mildew resistant lilac.

Full Description

This marvelous lilac is an instant favorite. Shrubs grow to only 4-5' tall and make terrific low hedges for tight borders. Mildew resistant leaves stay clean and pretty unlike those of old, leggy varieties. Substantial 4-5" clusters are intensely sweet-scented in soft lavender-pink. Plant in full to part sun in well-drained soil. Expect hordes of butterflies and birds. Very hardy and heat tolerant.

Lilac, Tiny Dancer™ is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardy heat tolerant plant I bought 5 of these last year to plant along the front fence of our house to create some privacy since we live on a corner lot last year. I bought several lilacs from a big box garden center and the heat arrived quickly that first year and they all ended up with leaf burn and died. I wanted to replace them but I didn't know what would be a good fit for the high desert and heat we live in. These came in as sticks with a root. Last year they got a few leaves but they were healthy and green and didn't mind the sun and heat. Already a month into this growing season year 2 and these have grown some branches as they started to come back from its winter hibernation. 2 of them have blooms this year so far. I'm very happy with these so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small but mighty I bought this two years ago and yes it arrived as a very small twig. Once it took off it hasn't stopped. It is over four feet tall and has only 2 flower buds, but that's amazing for 2 years! We live in Zone 8 and had a horrendous hot summer last year and this little guy has made it through 2 hurricanes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disappointing Was extremely small. Expected at least a small shrub but this was a twig sent in an envelope. Has grown some this summer but it will be several years before it is any size at all unless it grows like wildfire next year and if it makes it through the winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tolerates heat I Moved to the south and missed the smell of lilacs in the spring. I bought a Bloomerang, and it died quickly. I ordered a tiny dancer, and even though it's only one growing season old and hasn't bloomed yet, it's growing and green.
