Glorious reddish-purple semi-double blooms with golden centers are a sight to behold on this rare Japanese tree peony. The tissue paper-like petals are saturated in color and the flowers can easily grow to 8" in diameter. Underused garden specimens, tree peonies bloom slightly earlier than herbaceous peonies, and the shrubby plants are woody, adding architectural interest to the garden even in winter. As the plants mature, more and more blooms will appear, much to everyone's delight. Like all peonies, they are wonderfully long-lived plants. Shipped as a 2-year old bare root.
