Double Play Doozie® was selected for its dark red foliage in spring and bold, intense pure-pink flowers. The flower color is much deeper than that the varieties sold in commercial nurseries. Tiny pink flowers in flat clusters cover this shrub from late spring to mid-summer. Flowers are very attractive to butterflies and bees. Spiraea japonica is superior landscape plant, and best used in borders, cottage gardens or hedges. Easy to grow in full sun, Spirea tolerates a wide range of soils and is deer resistant. Flowers form on new wood, so pruning is recommended in late winter to early spring if needed. Proven Winners USPP30953.
