    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great taste This is my first year growing kale and I can't imaging an easier veggie to grow. I over seeded and I would say I had about a 95 germination rate. I let them grow to.about 6-8 inchester before thinning and used them as a tasty baby kale salad green. After thinning I am picking weekly and having an abundance that I am blanching and freezing for the winter. My still in the ground (3 days before halloween) and with the use of a row.cover I forsee harvesting until.mid to.late December. Bottom line. Yummy...easy to grow...abundant...freezes well. It's a winner.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very tasty! I loved this kale! I had 90% germination rates in my pots, and the seedlings were mostly eaten by slugs. I put them in my greenhouse, and they instantly perked up and became very leafy again! Since most of the leaves were eaten by slugs, it wasn't until November that I was able to try the leaves. They were so good! It was a delicious contrast of bitter and sweet, all in one bite. It is still producing magnificently in late November in southern Virginia, with lows in the high twenties. I would recommend this product because it is very tasty and hardy, and also very easy to germinate and grow.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite Kale I was turned on to this variety of Kale by a fellow gardening afficianado a few years ago. Last year was the first time I grew it, as a fall into winter was very prolific and successful. I grew it alongside my Georgia Collards, in separate beds. The flavor of this kale is delicious and sweet when kissed by the first frosts of November. I mix kale with cabbage, or with collards; seasoning it with either smoked pork (ham hocks, neckbones, jowl) or smoked turkey wing or drum. While you are picking, chopping, and washing your greens is when you begin boillng your meat, so that I reaches semi-tenderness by the time you add the greens to the pot. I chop some onions, add a little cider vinegar, S & P, crushed red pepper, 4 tblsps. of bacon drippings, and sugar. Cook greens until they are tender. (Collards and Kale have similar consistency). If I'm doing Kale & Cabbage, I'll render some diced thick-cut brown sugar cured bacon, then add in some chopped onions and shallots. As soon as onions & shallots are translucent, add in your chopped kale first with a little chicken broth. Let the Kale cook for about 20 to 25 minutes on medium-high to begin to breakdown, then add your chopped cabbage. I usually do S&P, and if I have sweet peppers on hand (like a cubanelle and or red bell), I'll julienne them and add it too. It's delicious with the kale-cabbage-onion-shallot-bacon combo. Then a little cider vinegar and a dash of sugar. Cook until cabbage & kale are tender but not mushy. You will thank me! (-: Growthwise, It loves the same soil conditions as most greens; well-drained, rich in organic matter, bone & bloodmeal, a slow release 10-10-10 fertilizer. I suggest a raised bed with chicken wire around it to keep out those mangey varmits, and spray with Sevin concentrate which connects to the hose every two weeks to keep bugs from eating up the leaves. ~Enjoy!!~

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Delicious! Delicious ornamental and edible plants which we harvested throughout the winter and into the next spring season. Pest and disease free, low maintenance, this kale exceeded my expectations. My kids love the taste and I've saved so much money in growing my own organic produce. Besides saving money, I also thrilled my family with a great-tasting vegetable that we grew ourselves. I grow these plants using square foot gardening in raised beds, and besides being so pretty in the garden, they are champions on the dinner plate.
