How to Sow
Plant hydrangeas in soil that is rich in organic matter, and provide the plants with ample moisture. In southern regions, plant hydrangeas in partial shade. In northern or coastal regions, hydrangeas will thrive in full sun.
How to Grow
Avoid planting your hydrangeas too close to trees, and do not plant them during the hottest part of the summer in your area. Removing old, discolored flowers can be done by pruning just below the inflorescence, a cluster of flowers stemming from the plants main branch or a group of branches.
Harvesting
Hydrangeas make beautiful cut flowers and add a nice touch to borders. They are also great for containers, and one popular use for hydrangeas is to dry the flowers in silica gel and dye them after the plants have been harvested.
