Direct Marketing Customer Service Representative
W. Atlee Burpee Company is the leading retail/mail order distributor of seed and gardening supplies to the American home gardener. We have an immediate opening for a Direct Marketing Customer Service Representative. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: handles all Direct Marketing Customer Service inquiries relating to online, phone and mail orders. This position offers support and assistance to enhance the customer service experience.
- Provides professional and efficient support to all incoming customer service phone calls and emails.
- Places orders, issues refunds and replacements, researches problems and resolves complaints.
- Reviews company website and product/inventory issues, and reports on inaccuracies and issues.
- Responsible for handling various order management tasks and processes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Modifies weekly work schedule during the Busy Season to fit department staffing needs (Jan-June).
- Provides leadership and supervisory assistance to all seasonal employees during the busy season (Dec-June).
- Backup to switchboard operator as needed.
- Processes and sorts company mail to the appropriate department.
- Basic to advanced understanding of Gardening and our Direct Marketing products
- Requires strong leadership, organizational, troubleshooting and PC skills.
- Additional Projects as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
- All other duties as assigned.
- 1-3 years prior Call Center/Customer Service experience
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills
- Strong Attention to Detail and Organizational skills
- Prior people management or leadership background
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Data Entry and Web Browsing
- Flexibility with working a modified schedule 6 months of the year
- Gardening Experience a Plus (not a requirement)
Off Season Hours (June-December): Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm
Peak Season Hours (January-June) :with availability to work until 9pm. One weekend shift mandatory
Flexible weekday schedule.
