Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing tool I have been eye this for some time but after a visit to Longwood Gardens and a worker there calling it her favorite, I purchased one. It came today so I went to give it a 10 minute run through the flower beds and yard. Well it does everything and it is hard for me to walk past undone tasks so 2 hours later I was done my test run. In that time I used it to 1) scrape (like a hoe) several small areas (3'x3' each) with sprouting weed seeds. 2) limb up pinky sized crape myrtle branched 3) transplant creeping geraniums 4) dig dandelions and plantains 5) cut back liriope and grasses 6) weed out creeping charlie crown vetch and wild strawberries. So if you took this to get the mail at noon, you might not get back inside until dinner because it does everything well and you could keep finishing "that one little thing". My biggest surprise was how useful the serrated edge is. Is perfect for cutting back liriope and grasses in the spring, bits of woody pruning, and cleaning out old growth during winter/ spring clean up. Still love a hoe for major weeding, but one tool to do it all, this is it! I also bought the leather holster, it is very usable but I thought it needed oil/ wax to make it last, so I put it on immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very effective for digging deep roots This gardening knife is very sharp, which means it works well for its intended purpose. I usually wear gloves while gardening, and know that I must wear gloves while using this tool - that's how sharp it is. It is the best tool I've used to dig dandelions and lily-of-the-valley, which are such persistent plants. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best garden tool ever! Oh cow!! This has been the best garden tool ever. I read about this tool on a gardening Facebook page and decided to buy it at the beginning of the season and have used it all year. It cuts, digs, moves soil, and is most handy and convenient...oh, and it can be used as a protection against aggressive neighborhood dogs (just saying). The quality of this tool is excellent and I hope to use it for many more years to come. You will not be disappointed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent tool I bought this on impulse, and I'm already in love. The serated edge slices right through mats of quack-grass roots, making it amazingly easy to lift them out. The pointed tip slip under horizontal roots left in the ground, and that they come out with minimal effort because they're unanchored. I cleared more ground in an hour than I had in over a day using my standard tools. It's lightweight and fits easily in the hand, and I can already tell it's going to be one of my "go to" tools for everyth from weeding to lifting iris and day-lily. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's very definitely a right-handed tool, and I am left handed. I had to switch hands to use it effectively, and while I'm ambidextrous enough to do that (a necessary survival skill in this right-handed world), my arm tired far sooner than it would have had I been able to use my dominant hand, and having to switch back and forth depending on what I was doing was awkward. On the other hand, i will give up my hori-hori when I give up my garden, which isn't happening in this lifetime! Now if someone would just come out with a left handed hori-hori, I will be in garden heaven.
