‘Nugget’, bred in 1970 and released in 1982, remains one of the most widely favored hop varieties in Oregon today. A high-alpha hops, it resulted from a cross between ‘Brewers Gold’ and a high alpha-acid male with excellent storage properties. ‘Nugget’ is best known for the smooth, mild bitterness it imparts, and its sweet flavor with a low-key, herbal fruity quality reminiscent of ginger, fresh oregano and rosemary.
