Persimmon, Nikita’s Gift™

Short Description

Outstanding hybrid of Asian and American persimmons hardy to USDA Zone 5.

Full Description

Outstanding hybrid of Asian and American persimmons produces gratifyingly large crops of sweet reddish-orange fruit—followed by strikingly beautiful, orange-yellow fall foliage. Asian persimmon presents alluring yellow, orange and scarlet fall color; enticing large bright-orange fruits, ripening in October, linger on trees long after leaves have fallen. Persimmons are ready to eat when fully ripe: soft and tender to the touch like a tomato. Best enjoyed lightly chilled and eaten once they have developed their full jelly potential. Infuses color, texture and flavor to fruit salad or ice cream. Self-fertile compact trees, growing 10–12'. tall, begin bearing 2–3 years after planting. Prefer half day to full sun and well-drained soil. Thrives in the Northwest and regions with mild winters. Untroubled by pests or disease. Hardy to USDA Zone 5.

Persimmon, Nikita’s Gift™ is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The variety is amazing but these are tiny I have several 5 foot trees that produce every other year so I thought these would add to the orchard but it will be several years and they cost as much as the 5 foot trees I got elsewhere. So sad
