Pear & Apple Cobbler

Get out your trusty cast-iron skillet to prepare this simple, satisfying dessert.




3 apples

3 pears

5 Tbsp butter

1/3 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Sprinkles of: cardamom, cinnamon, ground ginger

1 cup oats

¼ cup brown sugar

Pinch of salt

Ice cream for serving




  1. In an oven-proof skillet, combine peeled, cored and sliced apples and cored and sliced pears. Sauté with 2 Tbsp of butter, 1/3 cup sugar, vanilla extract and a sprinkle of cardamom, cinnamon and ground ginger for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, a pinch of salt and 3 Tbsp butter cut into chunks. Work the butter into a crumble using a pastry cutter or your fingers, and then sprinkle over the fruit mixture.
  3. Bake at 400 degrees F for about 40 min or until bubbling and golden. Top with vanilla ice cream to serve.
