Sharpblue is one of the best and most adaptable variety in low chill areas. Great for milder zones, it requires only 200 chilling hours to bloom and produce fruit. Sharpblue will bloom and fruit almost year round, with foliage remaining nearly evergreen.
Plant blueberry plants in a sunny to partially shaded area, in a well-drained, very acidic soil, with a pH of 4.2-5.2. Plant at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Set blueberry plants 4-8 feet apart (3 feet apart for hedges).
As fruit ripens, cover blueberry plants with netting to deter birds. Pick fruit promptly to discourage insects.
