Southern Highbush fruiting very- early in the season.
Very early fruiting, Oneal is considered to be the best tasting of all Southern Highbush blueberries. The correct soil pH is important and should be 4.5-5.5 for success with this variety. Oneal has a chilling requirement of 500-600 hours.
Plant blueberry plants in a sunny to partially shaded area, in a well-drained, very acidic soil, with a pH of 4.2-5.2. Plant at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Set blueberry plants 4-8 feet apart (3 feet apart for hedges).
As fruit ripens, cover blueberry plants with netting to deter birds. Pick fruit promptly to discourage insects.
