Growing Tips

  • Tulips tend to decline through the years and many gardeners renew plantings annually. They will last longer when they are planted more deeply as long as the soil is well-drained.
  • Tulips make great cut flowers, but be careful, they grow once the cut flowers are in water. Add a penny to the water in your vase to help prevent them from growing taller.
p>How to Grow

  • Flower bulbs also require watering after blooming, while the foliage is ripening. Water weekly if conditions are dry.
  • In spring after flowering, do not cut the foliage off; the foliage is part of the perennial growth cycle. Allow it to die back naturally.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only got one year's worth.... They bloomed the 1st year and we're beautiful. Unfortunately, that was it. They did not return this year. VERY disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful bulbs! Bought a couple bulbs, grew very well in a pot. They sprouted quickly, and the bulbs were gorgeous alone. They were about to bloom, when my dog took a bite out of one of the flowering bulbs, then they all died...I think from shock? poor babies. Guess they looked delicious to her too!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What the heck happened? I bought quite a few ice cream tulips 2 years ago and they bloomed the first year and NOTHING this year. I even added chicken wire to keep the squirrels from digging them up. SO disappointed. All that money and no flower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing!! The 2 out of the 25 I ordered were pretty - but very short. The other 23 produced only green leaves - no tulip at all. Very disappointing for what I expected to be big, fluffy ice cream looking tulips! ...and the fact that less that 10% even produced a flower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty They were not as large of blooms as I thought but they were still very nice. I have seen these on other sites sell for twice the money. Good buy for the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely... This tulip was certainly beautiful this spring and interesting to watch develop from green bud to the gorgeous pink and white in the picture. I didn't have much luck with all of them, however. I had 3 of 12 bloom. The rest sent up foliage but no bloom. Maybe next year.
