Short Description

Stokesia, Honeysong Purple is perfect for fresh, native wildflower bouquets.

Full Description

Large 4 inch across, intense, dark-purple flowers with a contrasting reddish-pink center, Stokesia, Honeysong Purple is perfect for fresh, native wildflower bouquets. Stokesia laevis, is native to wetlands, bottom-lands, wet pinewoods, savannas and ditches mostly along the coastal plain from North Carolina to Louisiana. Sun loving, fluffy, cornflower-like, violet blue flowers are each with notched rays surrounding a pincushion center of feathery disk florets. Flowers bloom from early to mid-summer on top of leafy stems that rise from a basal rosette of medium green leaves. Leaves are evergreen in southern areas with warm winters. Well drained soil is essential, and wet soil in the winter is the main cause of loss for this plant.
