Grow hardy fall mum plants that add a unique color to the second season flower garden. These plants are very easy to care for, never needing to prune, pinch or deadhead and ship at proper planting time for your zone.
Sow in well-drained garden soil in a sunny area after danger of frost. Chrysanthemum seeds need light to germinate; gently press mum seeds into soil surface and keep beds moist.
How to Grow
Thin seedlings when mum plants are large enough to handle. Blooms in early summer. Taller cultivars may need staking. Divide all chrysanthemums every 2 or 3 years in spring or fall. Pinch garden mums two or three times before mid- to late July to encourage bushiness. Make the first pinch when the chrysanthemum plants are 6" tall.
There is a place in every sunny garden for chrysanthemums. These plants area terrific for beds, borders, containers, edgings, and cutting gardens. Garden mums are especially useful for fall color.
