How to Sow
Fern plants prefer partial to full shade and moist, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter.
How to Grow
Ferns are low-maintenance plants. Be sure to keep them well-watered, but do not leave your fern plants standing in water; let your ferns dry a little between watering. Ferns need consistently moist soil in order to thrive. If you have poor soil, work compost and organic matter into the ground at planting time. Propogate ferns by division.
Companion Plants
Ferns are perfect for shade gardens and woodland areas. They combine well with hostas and other perennials that do well in shade. Creeping ferns make great groundcovers.
