Start indoors about 6-10 weeks before last frost in a warm, sunny area. Sow seeds 1/4" deep
in seed-starting formula. Place containers in a south facing window or under grow lights until seedlings emerge. Keep moist. Seedlings emerge in 14-28 days at 70-80 F.
How to Grow Lavender
Transplant to larger containers when seedlings have at least two pairs of leaves. Before transfer to the
garden, accustom to outdoor conditions by moving to a sheltered area outside for a week. After last frost, set lavender plants out in garden 12" apart in a sunny, well-drained location with average soil in spring after danger of frost.
Lavender leaves and flowers are valued for their fragrance. Use them fresh or dried to make a soothing tea; add the dried parts to potpourris. Lavenders are excellent plants for a border, container, or rock garden; they also make a great low hedge.
