How to Sow
SOW dill seeds in moist, fertile soil in full sun after danger of frost. In frost-free areas, sow from fall to early spring. Sow dill seeds thinly and cover with 1/4" of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist.
How to Grow
Seedlings emerge in 10-21 days. Thin to about 12" apart when seedlings are 1-2" high. Removing the flowers as they appear can help prolong leaf production for a short time. Pinching off spent flowers can also prevent prolific self-sowing. At the end of the season, let some dill plants go to seed to provide a crop next year.
Harvesting
The fresh, young leaves are a popular flavoring for fish, poultry, seafood, eggs, soups, salads, sauces and new potatoes. Use the seeds for pickling; enjoy the blooms as cut flowers. Grow dill in herb or vegetable gardens.
