Gardening Tip of the Day

  • Impatiens make terrific houseplants. If you hate to lose all your impatiens to the first frost, save a few to grow as houseplants over the winter. When pulling up plants from the garden, look for young seedlings. Use a potting soil mixture to pot up these plants. Keep evenly moist and prune plants back a bit if they get too large or lanky. Feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer every month to keep plants looking good. Plants need indirect light so place near a bright, west-facing window. Next summer, you can replant them outside.
