Gardening Tip of the Day

  • Where the lawn slopes fairly steeply toward the sidewalk and mowing the grass is both difficult and dangerous, use groundcover plantings instead of grass. Many annual or perennial plants, ornamental grasses or shrubs planted closely to cover the soil are low maintenance and look very attractive. Choose low-growing evergreen standbys such as pachysandra, English ivy and vinca or try less common liriope, hellebores and others.
