Gardening Tip of the Day

  • Gardeners often ask how deep is deep enough when sowing seed. The general rule of thumb is to cover the seed about twice as deep as its diameter. If a seed is 1/4 inch across, plant it 1/2 inch deep. For very tiny seeds like lettuce, just press them into the soil surface. Remember, always read the seed packet instructions before planting!
