Gardening Tip of the Day

  • A handy tool for cutting flowers for arrangements is a cut-and-hold shears or flower gathering scissors. It has one thick serrated edge and one thinner sharp edge. When cutting a stem, the shears hold the stem after it is cut so it won't fall to the ground. Some of these shears also have a built-in thorn remover for use when cutting roses. Longer-handled, cut-and-hold shears are available which are very useful when stretching across a bed to cut flowers or for gardeners who have difficulty bending or reaching.
