Burpee Deep Root 6 Pak is rated out of 5 by 7.Rated 2 out of 5 by plantnut from Disappointed with quality, way overpriced I used to own a small nursery business and have grown many thousands of seedlings, now I grow 100 flats of plants every year for myself. I bought these 6 packs because I was tired of typical 6 packs that don't last, I reuse mine until they wear out. For the price of these I was hoping they would last forever (or close to it) and not just be reusable for a few years. I am disappointed with the quality of this item, the plastic is not that much thicker than a regular 6 pack. I haven't used them yet but I don't expect them to last, the rims of 2 of them are already cracked just from separating them! I would return them but the shipping would cost over $11, not worth the hassle, glad I didn't order 20 sets like I was going to. Also, they are longer than a regular deep 6 pack and instead of being able to put 6 packs in a standard flat you can only fit 5.Date published: 2015-02-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Sarah921 from Good investment for seed starting I'm glad I bought these trays for seed starting. They seemed a little expensive, but I've been able to reuse them several times and they're still good as new. By using these, a nice light seed starting mix and a real grow light with T5 bulbs, I got tons of root growth and short, stocky seedlings. All of them popped out of the cells easily, so no damage during transplanting. Those big trays of 72 tiny cells are terrible- you have to transplant the things so early, at which point they're so fragile they're mostly destroyed by the process. Peat pots or cardboard pots are even worse, because they dry out like crazy, they're not as easy to take the plant out, can't be reused and cost more per pot than a real tray.Date published: 2015-01-10Rated 5 out of 5 by qqmkxp938 from Love the Deep Root 6 Pak When I transfer my very new seedlings to these Deep Root 6 Paks, I feel highly confident that the roots will have enough room for strong healthy growth... I like the security of knowing that my seedlings will have sufficient room to breathe, absorb nutrients and grow without the stress of a squeezing into a smaller size. These paks used to be less expensive but I have accepted the additional cost ..... if they keep my precious seedlings happy.Date published: 2012-03-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Woodin from deep six pack This is a great size for growing tomatoesDate published: 2012-03-28Rated 5 out of 5 by oldcoach from deep roots--the only way to go an excellent product.. allows your seedlings to grow larger before transplantingDate published: 2012-03-28Rated 5 out of 5 by SurburbanGardner from Thumbs up to the Plastic Root Paks I bought these trays about 5 months ago and have been using them to start seeds in high humidity seed tanks and under my grow lights. So far they have held up well in these extreme conditions, though I did notice discoloration on a few of them, but I'm not worried about how they look. I'm pretty rough on them, I line the interior with newspaper so it's easy to get the seedlings out into bigger pots when needed. I have noticed that a few of of the trays have small cracks, but the structural integrity of the paks has remained constant with heavy use. I'm back to buy more!Date published: 2011-09-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Peapicker from Better than freebies You may think that the 6-packs we save from the local nursery will do as well as these. Nope. Burpee's 6-packs are deeper, stronger and have curved upper rims so down-turning leaves are not damaged. I've used my set for 5-10 years in shade, sun and under grow lights and they show no signs of aging. (The product alone rates 5 leaves, but wish they were more economical.)Date published: 2010-03-31
