XL 32-Cell Eco Friendly Ultimate Growing System is rated 4.0833 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tore after having for less than a week I had a seed starter kit from this company before that wasn't the XL. I loved it and wanted to get another. When transporting outside to harden off the seedlings, it tore and the seedlings were damaged. The bottom is made of cheap plastic and for it costing me $30+, I believe it shouldn't have torn as quickly has it had. I did like how quickly the seeds sprouted from the growing medium, but the material of this product brought the rating of the product so low.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pain in the butt The system is a pain in the butt to set up. Having to soak the mat before hand then transfer it into the pan makes for a messy start. Then most of the water falls off the pellets, into the tray, instead of getting absorbed (I had to put the soil-holding tray into a different tray just to get the water surrounding the pellets for them to fluff up, then transfer it back to on top of the mat). The pellets don't fall apart into the soil - I had to break up all of them with a screw driver even when wet. They weren't consistent pellets - some filled the whole area, some with about the same moisture were a centimeter under. The compostable germination sheet is flimsy and the system doesn't allow for the seedlings to have any variation in height before its removal (I'd rather have a plastic dome). Additionally, it isn't retaining moisture well for germination. The system is hard to move (I can't plant directly in the grow lamp due to my setup, and taking this down a set of stairs was tricky). I'll see how my plants sprout (have eggplant, savory, stevia, and basil right now). However, even if they sprout fine, I'll be going back to a domed system such as the Jiffy ones (or a domed Burpee) before this setup. This is entirely too much of a nuisance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it! The watering tray was cracked and useless when I received. Cheaply made. I followed directions to the letter. Some of the 32 pellets expanded as they should. I had to break the rest up by hand. Much simpler to use a bag of seed starter mix. Invest in a different system!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works I placed the tray under a four T5 lights in a plastic greenhouse. I achieved a 98% germination rate, on some difficult to germinate seed like pepper plants. My tray did not crack. Chief complaint is that Burpee does not supply enough labels for all the cells in the tray. Anyone that experiences problems with getting certain type of seeds to sprout, I highly recommend they use this system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality The premise of this system is great "self watering", however the quality is really poor. Only lasted one season, tray easily cracks then leaks. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy it feels like cheating This system is pretty idiot proof. I had great success with these when starting tomatoes and peppers indoors. I left my seedlings in this tray for a few weeks before I separated/thinned them into individual peat pots. The best part is that you can keep the system and reuse it over and over, all you'll need is more seed starting soil or pellets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing growing system!! I have tried many different indoor growing systems and this one surpasses them all. I am no longer dehydrating and then drowning my seedlings anymore. The self water system is the best because I don't have to remember all the time to check and make sure they have just the right amount of water, the growing system does it for me. I bought one and had to buy another. I also like that the sections are large enough that you don't have to transplant the seedlings right away and they have some time and space to develop their root system. All I can say is I love it and recommend it to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use. Very easy to use product, pellots are amazing, and expand to fill in seconds. Planted 3 days ago and I already have sprouts coming out under the grow light. Items arrived with minor cracks in the plastic, but nothing that will prevent use. Well designed system burpee!
