Greenhouse Kit is rated out of 5 by 21.Rated 5 out of 5 by PNK1 from Used these for years and reuse them every winter I've used every type on the market and these worked great for me every time. I use to tear them up or leave them out and they would get damaged. Now I clean them a store and they last. But they alway's do good on my plants but many others do to.Date published: 2016-01-29Rated 1 out of 5 by DTAUB from Terrible product This is the first time I used this seed starting kit and it will be my last! I lost a whole season of plants because of them. I only wish I had read the reviews before I bought. I've been starting my own plants for many years with another brand product and have never had an issue. Everything the previous posters said about these kits is true. The main issue was that I had extremely poor germination and growth. I know my seeds were good. Those that did germinate did not grow well. I finally resorted to transplanting the few plants that germinated into another medium and then they grew, but by then it was too late to save my season. I had to buy started plants, and I don't like to do that. Not only was I out the plants, but also the money I paid for seed and for the four 36 cell kits I had bought. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed and will never buy another starter kit from Burpee again.Date published: 2015-11-25Rated 2 out of 5 by juicelee from Meh Out of the 72 cells, I think about 2, maybe 3 actually expanded...Kind of a disappointment. I left a bunch of warm water inside the tray with the hopes that they might expand overnight, and I went ahead and sowed my seeds anyways. Worst case scenario, I have to resow in the same plastic container with a bag of potting soil or some root plugsDate published: 2015-03-27Rated 1 out of 5 by Ruby from Pettets hard as BRICKS! Yesterday I purchased the 72 Cell Greenhouse Kit. It has been over 24 hours and the dirt "bricks" are still that, "bricks". Even after soaking them overnight, they have only expanded about 25%. I have used this system in the past with great results, but something is very wrong here. I dug the packaging out of the trash and watched the video suggested on the package and make sure there I had done it right. When I pick them up I can break it into a couple of layers, but I can't even stick a fork or a paring knife into the pellet. Needless to say, I think I got a bad batch if there's such a thing. Wish I had read the reviews. I guess I'm not the only one. What a waste of time and money.Date published: 2015-03-04Rated 5 out of 5 by katiesdad1963 from greenhouse kit My wife purchased the 72 cell greenhouse kit for me and I love it. All the pellets expanded beautifully. I did have to level it out after expansion which was fine with me, and the mix is not like anything I have used before very light and loose. If anything goes wrong after planting or during transplant I will let you guys know but right now I LOVE IT!. Some reviewers said there pellets didn't expand, the way I did mine was poured 2 cups of water in the tray then added the pellets flat side down then added the rest of the water over the pellets. Every one over expanded the hole so I crumbled them up and leveled everything. I am going to buy another 2 kits tomorrow as I always start a ton of seeds. I hope this helps, after some of the reviews I almost didn't purchase this and now I am so glad that I did. And just to add if something isn't right with a product call them they have always been more than fair with me in making things right!Date published: 2014-04-02Rated 1 out of 5 by MizMary from Horrible, Horrible, Horrible I consider myself to be a fairly experienced gardener, grew up on a farm, have a BS in horticulture, have worked in and managed greenhouses as well as my personal gardening at home. That said, this "seed starting kit" is the worst product I have ever used. Like other reviewers, not all of my soil cubes(?) expanded properly and my seeds were slow to germinate, what did were not particularly strong. Worse yet, the ones that do germinate are almost impossible to get out of the tray, the growing medium does not hold together around the roots. It makes it rather pointless to pre-start your seeds if you end up with weak, slow growing transplants! My previous experience was with the Jiffy starters. They quickly pop up with the soil in a mesh bag which keeps the soil together and really makes it easy to water and transplant when they need a larger container. My husband got the Burpee kits for me since I start so many seeds but he won't do that again. Please don't waste your time and money on this product! The system requires a star rating or I wouldn't have given this even 1 star.Date published: 2014-03-12Rated 1 out of 5 by Snowing from Online Price I purchased two of these items because they were 50% off so they were just over five dollars, when the items were delivered I looked at the packaging and saw a price of $6.99! I noticed this last year when I purchased something from Burpee last season I went to HD and looked at the Burpee display and saw the same item with a lower price that was on the packaging so it was not a store discount. Haven't used the trays yet. The only thing good about shopping online are the discounts they offer.Date published: 2014-03-05Rated 1 out of 5 by ramblertime from 36 cell greenhoue kit Wow, wish I had read the reviews here before I purchases this kit. I came on line to send an email to burpee after using the product, and then saw all the poor reviews. Thought I did something wrong. same thing, the pellets did not open up much, were hard and had to scrape them some just to make a hole for the seed. In no way did they come close to filling up the cell 1/3 never mind fully like the pic shows. What a waste of a few weeks growing time. I bought another brand of a simialr kit and they worked fine. then needed more cells so figured the burpee brand would be better from a trusted name. WRONG. this is junk. do not waste your money. I bought them at Home depot. Bought some smaller kits for 3 bucks at Ocean state job lot and they did expand and seedlings have emerged. I wonder if the pellets were made wrong or what. i even used burpee seeds for them. maybe those will be worthless too. so disapointed in my first attempt to use such a product as opposed to just buying soil and planting them in pots. Sent an email to burpee before I even saw the reviews here so wonder if they will respond or even care. I do not see any reply from them on these other comments with poor results. oh well.Date published: 2013-05-07
