Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disaster - Don't waste your money I've been soaking the pellets in warm water for 1 hour. They aren't expanding. What a waste of time and money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible Pellets The pellets in these kits are indestructible. I've soaked them in warm water for hours and they will not expand. I even used hot water (190 degrees), as another user suggested, - still no expansions. Save your money and buy some other product that does not use there useless pellets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So awesomely easy! I bought the 72 cell kit and have absolutely no experience growing things. I followed directions adding water and waited a day to make sure everything was thoroughly soaked (although it didn't take that long). Planted about 4 seeds to a pod (Roma tomatoes), lowered the lid, and kept them in my kitchen where they remained between 55-72 degrees. They began sprouting in 4 days and I moved them to the bathroom where they get filtered sunlight all day. This is so simple that we are starting a community garden at a food pantry using these to start our seedlings. It is fail proof - if you follow the directions. I probably planted too many seeds in each pod - all 4 came up - although some were a little slower. Now I have to figure out how to separate my 4 inch tall tomato plants and get them into planting pots. Really LOVE the ease of this system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I can do better on a paper plate, with paper towel over seeds. Will try little cubes straight in 1 gallon Pots next time, was impressed with how fast seeds popped to stem, but very leggy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not grow My pellets did not grow after reapplying warm water a second time and waiting 24 hours. Approximately 4 pellets expanded.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever Bought this kit to start growing my own sets after a long bout of bad health. I remember when I used to purchase Burpee products exclusively for my gardens. No more. Soil cylinders have been soaking for 24 hours with no expansion. Barely 1/3 of pod is full, not enough to plant a radish in, if I could penetrate the cylinder. The wicking setup looks like a great idea and I always had good luck with domes to germinate. I will try a competitors soil-less medium and hop for the best at this point. Such a disappointment from a formerly proud company

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best for Starting Seeds! I have been using these for five years now and I think they are truly great. I think this is the first review I have ever written for anything, at least that I can recall, but I was so surprised by all the negative reviews that I felt I needed to add my input. I pour near-boiling water from a tea kettle over the pellets (flat side down) and they pretty much all expand instantly. I use enough to get them to puff up, then go back through with a fork to fluff/mix/redistribute/level the growing mix, then add a little more water to hit any dry spots and saturate everything well. I have never had the problems others are complaining of. The mix is sterile, doesn't easily mold, and has a great success rate. The seedlings are easy to remove and transplant to paper cups once they get going. I start tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants primarily. I like the small size of the cells as it lets me fit a lot of seedlings into a small area. I keep them on a table in the sun during the day and on the mantle at night. I have found this to work better than trying to keep them out of sunlight while germinating. I usually get these at Tractor Supply, but I decided to look online to see if I could just order a case of the pellets and re-use the plastic trays/covers. I have not had anywhere near the success with other similar products for germinating seeds.
