An early season variety especially adapted to the Northeast.
Hannah's Choice is an outstanding blueberry with medium to large, firm, flavorful fruits. An early season variety that is adapted especially to the Northeast. Plants are upright and bushy with pink-tinged flowers and wavy-edged leaves. It's one of several blueberries developed by the USDA breeder Dr. Mark Ehlenfeldt, and surely a prized blueberry for the home garden.
Plant blueberry plants in a sunny to partially shaded area, in a well-drained, very acidic soil, with a pH of 4.2-5.2. Plant at least two different varieties for cross pollination. Set blueberry plants 4-8 feet apart (3 feet apart for hedges).
As fruit ripens, cover blueberry plants with netting to deter birds. Pick fruit promptly to discourage insects.
