Create luxurious beds in caressing, watercolor tones—light pink, white and wine.
This bushy phlox—a sea of enticing color in light pink, white, wine, burgundy and diffused blue—flowers profusely all summer long and is ideal as a low border and picture-perfect in a container. Flowers are 1½" across. Lovely cutting flowers.
Start indoors in a warm, well-lighted area about 8 weeks before last frost. Sow seed 1/8" deep in seed-Starting formula. Keep moist.
How to Grow
Seedlings emerge in 11-21 days at 65°F. Before transfer to the garden, accustom to outdoor conditions by moving to a sheltered area outside for a week. Transplant the hardened-off seedlings to the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Annual phlox thrives in rich, well-drained soil in full sun. The plants may need extra water in dry periods but are generally tolerant of high heat. Pinch off spent flowers for continuous bloom.
This colorful annual can be used in beds, borders, rock gardens, edgings, patio containers, and cutting gardens. It looks marvelous in masses as an annual groundcover.
