HEIRLOOM. Here's a little something to add a tropical flare to the garden. Steeped in romance. Passion Flower is mildly scented and blooms from late summer through fall. The 2" orange fruits are ornamental. An excellent greenhouse plant.
Start seeds indoors and Sow 2-3" apart and cover with 1/2" fine soil. Firm lightly and keep
evenly moist. For best results, soak seeds in warm water for around 10 hours in early spring.
Seedlings emerge slowly over a few months, depending on soil and weather conditions.
How to Grow Passion Flower
Thin or transplant to stand 10" apart Starting when seedlings are large enough to handle. Grow
in part to full sun, but keep soil evenly moist. Bring established plant indoors in the fall,
prior to first frost, for second year bloom. Although considered hardy Zones 5-9, plants kept
outdoors should be in a protected site and mulched in severe winter cold. Top growth is killed
with frost, but comes back in spring. Provide supports for vines that can reach 10'.
