Pansy, Spreading, Plentifall Mix
Fragrant pansies for hanging baskets and borders.
With a true trailing habit, these fragrant pansies are ready to drape fetchingly from a hanging basket or brighten up your borders. The dainty 1½" flowers are edible, and welcome additions to any spring and summer salad.
Start indoors about 12 weeks before transplanting. Sow seeds thinly and evenly in seed Starting formula. Cover completely; firm lightly and keep evenly moist.
How to Grow
Transplant the hardened-off seedlings to the garden after the last heavy frost to an area in full sun with rich, moist, well-drained soil. (If seedlings are hardened off, they will tolerate light frost.) In areas with hot summers, you may plant pansies in partial shade. Set plants at least 6" apart. Deadhead pansies--or pick the flowers frequently--to keep them blooming. Blooms in spring, summer.
Pansies are perfect for the front of beds, borders, rock gardens, and edgings. They also look beautiful in small bouquets as well as patio containers and window boxes.
