Start indoors in a warm, well-lighted area about 8-10 weeks before last frost. Sow 1/8" deep in seed-Starting formula. Keep moist.
How to Grow
Seedlings emerge in 14 days. Before transfer to the garden, accustom seedlings to outdoor conditions by moving to a sheltered place outside for a week. Set plants at least 9" to 1 apart in well-drained soil in full sun. Cut off dead stems and spent flowers when needed to maintain the plant. Ice plant is heat and drought-tolerant, so occasional watering is recommended. Pot ice plants and bring indoors for the falll in cold zones.
Ice plants make great (perennial) groundcovers and are good for containers and hanging baskets. You can also add them to a succulent garden.
