Full Description

Out of a dream and into your garden;a vision of deep, satisfying colors. Thick leaves are extravagantly splashed with both dark and neon tones. This tall (4-5'), rugged annual is drought tolerant. Grows best in full sun but will still perform well in light shade. One customer commented that Fantasy "Beats coleus hollow", which I believe is a strong endorsement.

Perilla, Fantasy is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repeat purchases of this beautiful Perilla If properly cared for, this Perilla is a beauty. I have purchased it from Burpee for the last three years and plan on continuing to do so. It makes a colorful accent plant in containers with some sun and attention to water. The color differences will vary depending upon amount of sun received. The best method seems to be planting 3 together in a large pot with good drainage, partial sun, and watch the color explode. I planted some in the ground in shade last year and, although they did well, were not as spectacular. They will root easily if you break one off. Burpee packages carefully and, if you follow the unpacking and care instructions, you will have a beautiful plant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I was expecting My plants arrived fine & have grown well. However, as others have noted, the color is not the same as the picture. Here's a pic of them in a container, with another Coleus in the middle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not impressed Bought 3 plants - 2 were healthy and 1 was almost dead when they arrived. The 2 healthy ones survived. I have them planted in pots in full sun and they don't look anything like the picture. They are a solid dark purple. It has been extremely hot here in Texas so I don't know if that is a factor. I guess they need to be in shade or partial shade to bring out the beautiful colors of the picture. Will try to start some from cuttings and see how they do in shade/partial shade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent In A Big Pot, Full Sun These colorful plants grow in any light condition, but the more sun they get, the bigger and broader they grow. For example, in full sun mine grew thigh-high. (I'm 6' 2" tall.) In partial sun, knee-high. In mostly shade, about 15 inches, and their circumferances were proportional to their height. I agree with a previous reviewer that these make great front porch potted plants, especially in full sun, growing in a good sized pot. (On hot days, water daily.) Bonus: I had an entire branch snap off one of my Perillas, so I applied rooting hormone to it and planted the branch in a medium sized pot. Kept it damp and very quickly I had a "new" Perilla. Only lost a couple of leaves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from dissappointed i ordered these expensive annuals for my garden; having waited for their arrival and this was my first live plant order from Burpee; i cannot tell you how dissappointed I was when they arrived. Opening the carton; the plants (3) looked diseased and dead; only one of the three looks like it might make it. I don't think Burpee gave me what I expected from thier name. sign me: Dissappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Plant! This plant is great, I accidentally broke one in to several pieces and stuck them in water to enjoy them while I could - Ended up with many plants! They grow approximately 3' tall and 3' wide and tolerate just about any sun and/or soil condition. They work as beautiful filler or backdrop for landscape beds!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderful plant This was my first year planting perilla fantasy. It grew strong, tall (about 3') and with beautiful rich colors. I have cut it back periodically and it becomes more full and continues to grow well. I have had so many compliments. It also works well as a cutting plant and will last over a week. I have displayed cuttings in a vase alone or with other plants/flowers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats coleus hollow Everyone who saw this plant in my large pot on the porch went 'wow!.' The coleus in the same pot didn't thrive but the perilla showed great color until frost.
