Gorgeous flowers on easy-growing plants.
Your eyes will go "wow" when they alight on these large splashy pink and lavender blooms with frilly white edges. The hardy, easy-to-grow 16" plants flower from June right through September in well-drained soil. The bushy, full-bodied plants light up a border with dazzling color.
Sow outdoors in full sun in the garden after danger of last spring frost, preferably in well-drained, poor soil. Sow seeds evenly and thinly and cover with 1/4" of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist.
How to Grow
Seedlings emerge in 7-14 days, depending on soil and weather conditions. THIN to stand about 15"" apart when seedlings are large enough to handle. Gaillardia is drought-tolerant. Deadhead plants for continuous bloom and divide the plants every 2 or 3 years in spring or fall.
Gaillardia is excellent for the middle of the border, for a cottage garden, and for naturalizing in a wildflower meadow. They are especially valuable for dry-soil areas, and are very striking when planted in large numbers. The blooms make terrific cut flowers.
