Chrysanthemum, Tricolor Daisy
Heirloom painted daisy from Morocco.
This "painted daisy" was introduced from Morocco 200 years ago. The plants are about 2 ft. tall and bushy, topped in midsummer with bright daisies in a riot of colors—red, white or yellow, ringed with scarlet, mahogany, orange or rust. Flowers 3" across. Excellent cut flowers.
Start indoors in a warm, well-lighted area 4 weeks before outdoor planting time. Sow 1/8"
deep in seed-Starting formula. Keep moist. Seedlings emerge in 10-21 days at 7-75 F. Transplant
to larger containers when seedlings have at least 2 pairs of leaves. Before transfer to garden,
accustom to outdoor conditions by moving to a sheltered area outside for a week. In long-season
areas, seeds may be Started outdoors.
How to Grow Chrysanthemum (Tricolor Daisy)
Set plants at least 9" apart in a warm, sunny location with moist, fertile soil in spring
after danger of frost.
