W. Atlee Burpee & Co. the leading supplier to the American home gardener has an immediate opening for a Production Planner. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the overall plan that will guide the Operations group thru each season’s production cycle; handle the day-to-day needs of the department to deliver work direction to guide Operations, Production, and Purchasing in their daily activities.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Communicate with packaging, assembly, purchasing, sales, and marketing to ensure customer priorities are met, while optimizing the capacities and constraints in each area.
- Work with a production schedule that will optimize manufacturing lead times to ensure the maximum utilization and efficiency of production resources and flex to meet the needs of Retail customers.
- Assist in the optimum use of raw materials, keeping germination records in compliance with all regulatory agencies, and ensure that lot management and blends are managed properly.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the inventory needs/product deliveries for all co-packing operations.
- Create shortage lists and expedite needs for buyers to support the plan.
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Business or related field or combination of both education and experience
- 2+ years minimum experience with supply chain, material management, or inventory control environment with a focus on scheduling and planning
- MRP/DRP/ERP software experience
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Organized, multi-tasker who can work with all levels of an organization
- Highly motivated individual with proven ability to set and meet deadlines
- APICS certification or similar training A +!
