W. Atlee Burpee & Co. the leading supplier to the American home gardener has an immediate opening for a Stock Seed Manager. This position will manage the stock seed inventory of the company and ensure that the quality of the parental lines are maintained pure and true to type and replenish the inventory on a periodic basis. Maintain the integrity of the parental records and keep a duplicate sample of each parent line in a separate location to ensure continuity of parental lines.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Maintain a 3-year average inventory of all the parental lines/stock seed of the company.
- Replenish inventory on a periodic basis.
- Ensure the genetic purity of the lines through careful management of the production and roguing.
- Ensure the protection of the lines in case of catastrophic events by maintaining a separate inventory in another location.
- Send the required stock seed quantities to support production orders.
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Biology, Botany, or Genetics
- 5+ years experience required
- Combination of both education and experience will be considered
- Proactive and self motivated
- Ability to work in high-pressure environment!
