Melon Spacing

How far apart should I plant my melons? I know they spread and vine, so what is ideal spacing for planting in my raised garden beds?

Re: Melon Spacing

The traditional method is to plant the melons in hills( mounds about 4 inches high) sow  3-4 seeds in each mound and weed the seedlings come up remove all but the strongest two. Space the mounds 10feet apart for watermelon and 4 to six feet apart for all other melons.

You can also train the vine of cantaloupe to a fence and then support the fruit in a fabric hammock. That saves a lot of garden space.
