Starting seeds inside getting lanky

I live in Chicago and started my perennials and annual seeds I about a week ago. Some of the seedlings (bachelor buttons) are getting tall and lanky. I started them in the flat with the plastic cover. I bought the biodegradable 3" containers so they have more room. Is this going to help or are they done for.

Re: Starting seeds inside getting lanky

Tough to say without seeing it however, leggy plants  are usually caused by not enough light, too crowded, or too warm. Cornflowers(Bachelor Buttons) like it cool so make sure the temperature is not above 70 degrees. Also, they need a sunny window southern preferred. If you are growing under lights make sure you keep the light one 16 hours a day and keep the light within four inches. Post a picture if you can.
