planting time

what is best time to plant cilantro in zone6? And do they need full sun? The ones i tried tyo grow past year wher eso tiny and did not produce well.

Cilantro should be direct sown after all danger of frost.  In USDA zone 6, the average last frost date is mid-April but the approximate last frost free date is mid-May.  Cilantro is a cool season plant and will germinate much better in May and June than in July and August. To get the best harvest, sow in place every two to three weeks; thin to 12" between plants after germination and give your crop of seedlings as much full sun as possible.  If you let cilantro go to flower and then seed, you will have a harvest of coriander seeds at season's end.
