Shade grow

I have a large shaded spot where grass wont grow. Is there a flower that I can plant there that will survive?

Re: Shade grow

Hostas, ferns, astilbe, bleeding hearts make a nice foundation with impatiens.

Re: Shade grow

We have mostly shade from huge pine trees.  We've created an area with a small fountain and many different varieties of ivy.  It fills in beautifully and we add spots of impatients and hosta.

How large is your space? I would try coleus, impatiens or begonia.

Re: Shade grow

Here are some plants that do well in shade Coleus,Impatiens,Perilla and Torena.  They would look lovely around your bird bath. Although I would not recommend a bird bath if you have cats in your area. It doesn't seem right to water and birds and feed the cats at the same time.

Re: Shade grow

I think you should put in a bird bath.
