February 28, 2012 February 28, 2012 <![CDATA[Re: Blackberries]]> http://www.burpee.com/community/discussion/446/blackberries?commentid=1514 I've read that blackberries should not be planted next to red raspberries. Can someone educate me as to why? I did not realize this last season, and put two brand new blackberries (small canes w/ roots from a local nursery) right next to the three red raspeberries from two seasons prior, which have been bearing good fruit. Do I need to dig them up? I hope not!! We are in the Pocono Mts. of PA, Zone 6 (zip 18091). I also have just ordered two Anne (yellow) Raspberries, not sure where to put them now. The existing bushes are all long the sunny side of our home. The goal is to have berries covering that entire side of the house. Thanks in advance from this brand new member!! KellyB
