Tomatoes in a flowerhouse?

Anyone know how well tomatoes grow in a flowerhouse on one of those upside-down container planters in Tucson, AZ? Not the topsy-turvy but similar. I'm using the Heatwave II tomato seeds.

Re: Tomatoes in a flowerhouse?

Tomatoes are better off planted upside up. Plants grown in a 'topsy-turvy' pot require more maintenance. The tops tend to curve up, towards light, because the base of the stems are shaded from light. Tomatoes grow best when in full sun, where the leaves at the base of the plant receive more light. Harvest will decrease, flavor suffers, more leaves yellow faster, and stems tend to break.
