I forgot to mention my vegetable garden this year was in a raised bed. Any special tips for that?

My garden also is in Wisconsin.  One of the things we've done is to put ash in the garden from a wood burning firepit that we have.  Our tomatoes this year were amazingly tasty, though they stopped getting ripe in September even though we had loads of green tomatoes.  Not sure what happened there and how to keep the fruit ripening.
