Re: do pepper plants need suports

Many hot peppers do not need support, they are lightweight fruit. However, some varieties, like sweet bell peppers do grow heavy fruit that can put a strain on the plants’ stem. Some pepper stems can become brittle as the plant mature, in which case a cage of small trellis would be very helpful.

Ditto on the use of small tomato cages. Even my lightweight hot peppers seem to benefit from having something to lean on.

I use a small tomato cage for my bell peppers.

I have found that my bell peppers often need some support. I use some bamboo sticks (very inexpensive).
